How to stack rings
A good ring stack looks collected rather than crowded. Start with one plain band, build with contrast, and leave some space.

In short
- Start with a slim base band and build the stack around it.
- Mix widths and textures, and keep to one statement ring per hand.
- Spread rings across two or three fingers, and size up for wide rings.
Stacking rings is one of the most personal ways to wear jewellery. There are no rules you cannot break, but a few principles make the difference between a stack that looks considered and one that looks like you emptied your jewellery box onto one finger.
Start with a base band
Every stack needs a simple ring to build around: a slim plain band or a fine band set with small stones. It anchors the stack and makes the more decorative rings look intentional. Wear it on its own on busy days and build on it when you want more.
Bands to build on
Mix widths and textures
Three rings of the same width blur into one. Pair a slim band with something chunkier, a smooth ring with a textured or mesh one, a plain ring with one that has a stone or a pearl. Contrast lets each ring be seen.
Keep the most decorative ring as the centrepiece and let simpler bands sit above and below it.
Spread rings across your hand
You do not need to stack everything on one finger. Two rings on the ring finger, one on the middle finger and a fine band on the index finger often looks more balanced than five rings on a single finger. Odd numbers tend to look more natural than even ones.
Add one statement piece
A sculpted shape, a cluster of stones or a flower adds personality. One statement ring per hand is usually enough. Let it sit on the middle or ring finger, where it is seen without crowding the others.

Getting the size right for stacking
Rings that sit together feel tighter than a single ring, and wide rings feel tighter than slim ones. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size for wide or chunky rings and your usual size for slim bands.
Our sized rings come in US sizes 6, 7 and 8. If you are not sure of your size, our ring size guide shows how to measure at home in a few minutes.
Stones and pearls in a stack
Stones and pearls add colour and light, but they also take the most wear. Put stone and pearl rings next to plain bands rather than next to each other, so settings do not rub, and take rings off before washing your hands.

Three stacks to try
Minimal
A slim plain band and a fine stone band on the same finger. Nothing else. It goes with everything.
Collected
A statement ring on the middle finger, two fine bands on the ring finger and a small signet on the little finger.
Romantic
A pearl ring, a heart band and a fine stone band, spread across two fingers.
Questions
How many rings should I stack?
Two or three on one finger is plenty. Spread more across your hand rather than adding to a single finger.
Should stacking rings be a size bigger?
For wide or chunky rings, choose the larger size if you are between sizes. Slim bands can be your usual size.
Can I mix stones with plain rings?
Yes. Put stone rings next to plain bands so the settings do not rub against each other.
Which finger should I stack rings on?
The middle and ring fingers carry a stack best. Spread rings across two or three fingers rather than piling everything onto one, and keep the statement ring on the middle or ring finger.
What ring sizes do you offer?
Sized rings come in US sizes 6, 7 and 8. Our ring size guide shows how to measure at home, and unworn rings can be exchanged for another size within 30 days.
