Matric dance jewellery guide

Matching jewellery to your dress neckline, colour and hairstyle for the big night.

A long gold earring with clear stones

In short

  • Start with the neckline of your dress, then choose one piece to lead.
  • Hair up suits long drop earrings; hair down suits sparkle or a bracelet.
  • With a strapless or sweetheart dress, wear a fine necklace or a statement earring, not both.

Matric dance jewellery should finish the look, not compete with it. Start with your dress, then choose one piece to lead.

Start with the neckline

  • Strapless or sweetheart: a fine necklace or a statement earring, not both.
  • High neck or halter: skip the necklace and choose drop earrings.
  • V-neck: a lariat or a pendant that follows the line of the dress.

Hair up or down

With hair up, longer drop earrings are the star. With hair down, choose earrings with sparkle that still show, or move the focus to a bracelet.
